Multiple Display not working on Ubuntu 11.04

Asked by zrahul

I have a Emachines, Laptop with Ubuntu 10.04. All was working perfectly when I used to connect my Samsung LCD TV using HDMI Cable.

All I had to do was hold the 'Alt + F5' it used to show be various options to switch my display to the TV and that was it.

After the upgrade to 11.04, this is totally gone wrong.

First it gave me a option to select the Monitors, which I did. and I said Apply and Close... now all problems start.

I cannot see the display on my computer or TV .. I can see only a partial portion of my display on the TV screen .. no matter what I do I am not able to view the "Configure Display Setting" menu on the laptop nor the TV properly so that I can place the display correctly.

Pls help

Assume this is unity. As for Natty you need to tell which shell is running, unity, gnome-classic with or without visual effects.
Search bug reports and in case confirm or report a new one.
