How do I remove Unity & replace with Ubuntu classic?

I don't like Unity at all for various reasons, how to I replace it with the previous desktop session and functionality?

Open a terminal and type:

gdmsetup

please select ubuntu classic or Ubuntu classic (no effects) and logout form your session then login again

Typing gdmsetup shows up an error in terminal as pasted below;

tavseef@ubuntu:~$ gdmsetup

(gdmsetup:2223): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:
tavseef@ubuntu:~$

Plz help.
