No, you need to reinstall. Its the only way to get an older release.

When you log in select Ubuntu Classic...it displays the same as 10:10.
No need to reinstall

I can't even identify what the problems are, but Evolution does not work properly,it gives a complete blank screen when you ask to create a new message, there is an unwanted taskbar on the side, and I'm not sure whether it is Firefox, or this version of UBUNTU (11.04) but the toolbars are missing from Firefox.
Every version up to now has been an improvement, but this one took about 8 hours to download and several hours to install.
I will try to revert to classic, but if it does not work I guess I'll lose everything and re-install.

@Himo: what is the problem with 11.04?

I have downloaded both 10.1 and 11.04 (just in case the 8 hour previous update was somehow corrupted). I tried to run from CD /DVD drive which is second only to my "A" drive in the boot sequence, but neither CD would run, I double checked the boot sequence, even removed the "A" drive from the sequence, but no matter what, UBUNTU 11.04 has completely taken over my computer. I hope that I do not have to format the whole hard drive remove windows and all evidence of Linux before re-installing Windows then a clean version of Linux UBUNTU 10.1.

Any suggestions on how to make my LINUX ISO disk work when UBUNTU 11.04 seems to have completely taken over?

"neither CD would run" : at which step does it fail ? If you can't boot from CD, it has nothing to do with what is installed on hard drive. If CD is first in boot order, hard disk will be used only if CD boot fails.

Make sure you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?

I have now burned 10 CD's and 1 DVD. Only one of the CD's worked which I guess was a larger than normal iso file because I finally got into the install process, and it asked for the next disk? I then burned the DVD which when tested came out with no flaws, except every time I try to either run in demo mode or install mode it takes a while and once I try to start I end up with a scrambled frozen screen which looks like the previous (PCLinuxOS) screen.
I had installed that os because every time I had tried to re-install 10.1 or 10.04, both of which worked well, with a few hiccups, the later 11.04 just took over.
I need a good preferably AMD 64 or 32 bit if better, ISO download that I can put on either a CD or DVD, as long as it works.
Every one of the CD's I have tried has failed in one way or another.
I have been working on this fairly constantly for the last three or four days, and have almost, as now resorted to Windows.

I just burned yet another disk another off of the UBUNTU site, 10.1 64 bit. I have an AMD 64 bit processor. When it again got by passed, I removed the hard drive from the boot menu, and set F12 to boot onboard CD drive. The result was the computer could not find bootable media asked for bootable media to be provided. I again enabled the HDD to be the boot drive. Incidentally the downloads were done through both Windows and PCLinux, so it is not the OS that does the download that is sabotaging it, but it does look like there is something missing in the download.
Two of the 12 disks I have used started to work one cd started into linux installer then defaulted to the original os PCLinux and the other having been checked and found not corrupt startes into the UBUNTU both demo and install modes then freezes. I have tried to install using a USB flashdrive, but the computer does not recognize that drive.
I cannot think of anything else to overcome this block. Up until 11.04 UBUNTU was a good OS getting better with each upgrade, but now I cannot even get back to the good version I did have.

Use USB or SD card to install. You should also burn the CDs and DVDs as SLOWLY as you are allowed. Be sure to MD5 test the ISO file before burning so you know the data is consistent and complete.

New download burned at slowest speed, similar result, started with a Ubuntu startup screen but defaulted to scrambled screen, no chance for choice to check disk or try or install, just scrambled screen. Went into windows to try to format the but cannot do that without losing my only continuous os Windows XP, and losing everything. Cannot even get as far as partitioning to try to clear things up.
This all goes back to 11.04. If I can ever get it back I will never go past 10.1 which worked.

"I have now burned 10 CD's and 1 DVD. Only one of the CD's worked" => you have issues with your CD burner if you burned from same ISO image. To check CD: http://zootlinux.blogspot.com/2010/05/check-disc-for-defects-in-ubuntu-1004.html
What is your graphic card ? Could you paste a picture of scrambled screen at http://imageshack.us/ and post link to it.
Are you currently able to boot from 10.10 Ubuntu CD ?

Problem solved, thank to actionparsnip, again! It was my CD /DVD Burner, I had burned another on a Mac laptop, and even in the new DVD burner it did not open properly. I was starting to feel persecuted. Bought a new internal CD/DVD burner, burned an already downloaded version of 10.1 at the lowest possible speed, and it worked.
I still don't like 11.04, unless I can get rid of the sidebar that further clutters the screen and I don't like the lack of tool bars in both Evolution and Firefox. I think that the blank pages that popped up were either bugs or the result of an 8 hour download which was probably corrupted.
Cost me 15 CD/DVDs but not teh fault of Linux or anyone else, I just got very frustrated. Sorry to be such a nuisance.
Thanks

"blank pages": there is a known bug on maximization of windows.
In login screen setup, you can choose "Classic" if you want to go back to previous GUI. It was what I did on my desktop PC. Me too, I prefer classical screen on large monitors.

Can you help with this problem?
