Unity Screen Messed Up

Asked by Jack Zhang

When I press my sleep button(goes to suspend) it works fine. But when I go back into Ubuntu, the Unity screen is all messed up. The buttons can still be clicked on but everything on the sides is distorted.

This seems like a bug. I recommend reading https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs carefully first, then searching to see if someone with similar video hardware and drivers has already reported this as a bug (that page explains how to do this--don't worry if you're not 100% that nobody else has reported it), then if you didn't find it already reported, file a bug report by producing the problem and then running ubuntu-bug with the PID of the running unity process (once you read that page, that will make sense).

You might try to see if there are alternative video drivers available in System Settings > Hardware > Additional Drivers. After installing them, you should reboot your computer before concluding that they don't work. If that doesn't work, then as a workaround, you might consider switching to unity-2d (see http://www.webupd8.org/2011/01/2d-unity-to-be-available-as-option-in.html, which includes links to installation instructions).

Can you help with this problem?
