Unity requires many clicks to navigate to your app, also unity has problem with wine program menu! Please enable also the oldfashion ubuntu menu

Asked by digitalcrow

1) Unity requires more cilcks to find an app
2) Unity is no cooperating with wine ! I mean there is NO wine menu like the old ubuntu gnome interface had.
Just add an old ubuntu gnome applications menu.
3) Unity is cool but we need a single button pinned to the left unity panel that acts like the old applications menu
4) Unity cannot be customized , we cannot add any widgets , launchers , apps etc
5) Adobe has a native 64bit flash plugin for firefox why it is so illegal to just include that by default on the new ubuntu ??
What is the harm?
-->6) You make new versions of ubuntu , thats cool ! I like it ! But there is no software ! , only some primitive simple amateur apps
-->Why tv tuners are not supported at all? I searched several forums i tried to extract the firmwares install make several configurations but i could not make any of my 3 tv tuners work with ubuntu
What will someone do with an operating system when it has no real apps ? DO WHAT?

I like very much ubuntu philosophy but im a person who wants everything or nothing , if ubuntu would have real applications and hardware support i would be ready to erase windows from my pc and install ubuntu , since then i will using only windows or mac osx.

Philosophy was (also for Gnome3) less customization features make it easier for new users.
In simple terms, a clean straight forward 'unity' looking desktop, instead of different menus, applets and so on.
Details, reasons, arguments are published all over the web.
Feature requests are on http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/

Before 11.10 will be released one still has the option of login session 'classic-desktop' and start customizing.

Software-Center, Synaptic offer around 30000 packages.
The CD only allows 700 MB, every time it takes a collaborative decision process which standard apps to add.

Since it's about free open source software, freedom of choice, users are invited to contribute.

Sorry about that question => "What will someone do with an operating system when it has no real apps ? DO WHAT? "
I really like ubuntu/linux philosophy also i like its user interface and some (little) apps it has but when someone use his pc for his work and have no professional apps then its work getting done very slower and thats it is very irritating.
I just want to say that apps are very important but its not your job only but its the job of any linux developer , but how these people can have any free time to make a good app when they make new distros every in a while.

Also i was very dissapointed that i could not use my tv tuner (pinnacle hybrid pctv pro usb), i swear if i was able to use it i would erased my windows partition forever.

about ubuntu 11.04 beta, compiz crashed every time , why is that?

Xubuntu seems that it has no 3d acceleration generally? or at least in alien arena

There exist still a number of triaged bugs for both unity+compiz, feel free to report or confirm one.
It isn't quite obvious from beginning if a crash is related to either unity or compiz.
e.g. when en-disabling plugins. Bug #685552

3d acceleration depends on video card + driver. (Again, feel free to report a bug)
Natty overview says upgrading to Natty may result in one workspace. Bug #745207
