add chromium to unity launcher

Asked by richard

I have installed Natty alpha2 and updated it to latest
added the chromium daily repo and installed chromium-browser
removed firefox from launcher by right clicking and unchecking keep in launcher
opened chromium browser and right clicked on the chromium icon (which has two arrow icons next to it and checked keep in launcher. closed chromium. tried launcher icon but it doesnt start chromium.

I think this maybe because of the way chromium separates the window threads aggressively. Is there an alternative method to add items to the launcher; without a categorised menu system locating a settings option is a little clumsy and slow.

Overall I think that the unity interface is much better than I was expecting, well done.

Very interested to see how global menu works; afterall if you have many windows open on a single screen (say 4 windows tiled), then the menu is almost always very disjointed from the window and if you have multiple monitors this only gets worse.

Ignore me... I have rebooted and it now works. Probably an update was pending a reboot or something; it is a fresh 2hour old install afterall.

thanks
