Comment 50 for bug 1319146

After the above commands were executed my proper background appeared, and the mouse worked as it should. I shut down to make sure, and upon starting the system again I have the correct background as well as a working mouse. The right click on the background brings up a small menu which it did not do before.

I believe you have not only found the problem but corrected it...thank you very much.
