ufw not auto enabled during boot

Asked by bommel

Hi all,
Using Linux Mint 18.3: once enabled (g)ufw would remind the settings and next time auto enable during boot, which was great!
But since a while ufw is NOT auto enabled during boot, forcing me everytime to manual enable ufw.
The only thing I've changed is adding a second user to the system (Acer Aspire laptop)
Searching the web I've not seen this issue, so question:
-> is not auto enabling ufw during boot a documented feature, and/or what can I do about it?
Thanks in advance for your reply!

Hi, ufw should be enabled by default in the startup (if you have it enabled).

Please, could you try these commands and put here the dumps?

sudo ufw status
If it's disabled:
sudo ufw enable
Reboot your PC.
sudo ufw status

Best regards.

andy@laptop ~ $ sudo ufw status

[sudo] password for andy:

Status: inactive

andy@laptop ~ $

andy@laptop ~ $ sudo ufw enable

Firewall is active and enabled on system startup

andy@laptop ~ $

now: reboot, and result:

andy@laptop ~ $ sudo ufw status

[sudo] password for andy:

Status: inactive

andy@laptop ~ $

This is a support area for Ubuntu.

Operating systems "based on Ubuntu" like Linux Mint are not supported here.

Linux Mint has its own support at https://linuxmint.com/contactus.php

Manfred,

Thanks for your referral.

I've pushed - within gufw - the "help/support" button which directed me to
"Ubuntu". given your reply that had to be Linux Mint. I'll wil do so.

Maybe to consider: create seperate configure file with "Help/Support
credentials"; then developers can modify "Applications read configure file
for correct display support-direction"? That would be nice:-)

Anyway, hope Mint Support can solve the issue,

Thanks again; Have a nice day!
