Advice on changing SSD for bigger SSD

Asked by Rich.b

I have a120GB ssd and have purchase a 480GB (Both Kingston brand)

Would like to replace 120GB with a 480GB ssd

As there is very little room for windows 53GB on the 120GB

I would like to have preferably 4 partitions on the 480GB ssd so that I could have 4 OS installed.

I will be downloading "Acronis" software the do the cloning.

Please could you advise me if there could be any problems and what they would be?

Thanks

Richard

Running Ubuntu 16.04 and Windows Pro10. on home built 8GB ram plus 500GB HD

Can you give some more information please.

Kind regards,

You may need an application like clonezilla or similar in order to copy the NTFS garbage over. It's not something I've done. Personally I'd just reinstall clean to the new drive.

Maybe others can advise. Are there no video guides on YouTube?
