I was able to get the cricket software to work using the 'Wine' software but this did not help as the software did not recognize the device. Thank you for any help!

You don't need wine

Can you give the output of:

lsb_release -a; uname -a; lsusb

Thanks

I have typed this and gone over it to try and make sure I did not fudge the syntax. I hope this is what you need. Thank you very much for the help as i want to liberate myself from windows on all my computers and this is my jumping off point.

Thanks, this seems rather complicated but I'll give it a shot. I do not however understand how to install these programs. Do you have any tips on installing apps? I am just another proficient windows user trying to crawl in linux.

Alright, Sorry to sound dumb but the software was already installed. I have looked at the link provided above and need a simple breakdown of what I need to do i.e. what do i type into the terminal to get started what changes are to be made etc. the tutorial also is for a different modem so what changes do I need to make to the code listed in the tutor. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

My network manager does recognise the cricket but it will not connect to the internet. It says 'CDMA home network connected' and acts like it is searching for a signal but then says 'modem network you are now disconnected'. I hope this will help to tell me what is wrong. Sorry for not including this earlier.

Alright this is so simple it amazes me I didnt think of it. Get your cricket phone # for your device. Go to edit connections, select mobile broadband, edit, then enter #777 for the number, <email address hidden> (the xxx represent your cricket phone #) for your username, and 'cricket' for the password. This will connect you!
