Can Ubuntu One sync from partitions other than /home?

Asked by Callum Macdonald

Can I have Ubuntu One sync a folder that is on a different partition than /home?

When I right click on a folder outside the /home partition, all the Ubuntu One submenu options are greyed out. Do I need to engage in some fancy symlinking to get it to work maybe?

Hi, it's not currently possible to sync folders outside your home folder, I apologize.

Is there a workaround with a symlink?

Everyone? One person replied. And no, the question is not answered. My original question asked about symlinking, as did my follow up, to which I have not yet received an answer...

Turns out, no, symlinks don't work (I just tested) but there is a bind mount option which apparently achieves the desired result, as described here:
