As you have probably discovered , Vista is a world unto itself. Are you trying to install a dual boot, a server or a client. What is the connectivity between you and the target? What tools are you trying to use?

I am using Vista Ultimate and it is fine. I think it has a bad rap sort of like Ubuntu when people are unfamiliar with it.
I am not dual booting or running a virtual box.
I solved my installing problem by uninstalling then clean the registry and reinstall.
I am having problems with syncing to the Ubuntu box from the two Windows machines.
I am thinking this is not going to happen this lifetime.
