Computer Shutting Down while Downloading Ubuntu server edition

Asked by Sam Alexander

I tried downloading the Ubutu server edition OS on my laptop and I have DSL internet so it was going to take a while. at about 70% of the download my computer shutdown by itself which, in turn, canceled the download. I was wondering if I need a certain internet connection in order to download this or is it because I'm using the Chrome browser for the download? And also, I wanted to INSTALL the server on another computer (one that's too old to get internet connection), not the one i'm downloading from. Is it SAFE to download the OS onto my laptop so I can burn it on a CD?

Try downloading a torrent file:

32 bit:
http://releases.ubuntu.com/12.04/ubuntu-12.04-server-i386.iso.torrent

or 64 bit:
http://releases.ubuntu.com/12.04/ubuntu-12.04-server-amd64.iso.torrent

"Is it SAFE to download the OS onto my laptop so I can burn it on a CD?"
Sure you can download this on your laptop and burn it to usb or cd.
