Folders listed for Ubuntu One sharing have gone!!!

Asked by Dave Allen

I am using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on a Dell desktop and an Asus laptop, and have recently been delighted to have Ubuntu One working between them on a shared folder in which I keep several sub-folders and files. Tonight I find that the desktop has lost all the shared files from its file system !!! a) where have they gone (they are still on the laptop). b) can I get them back? c) are they going to vanish from my laptop as well?
Yes, I HAVE backed up the laptop immediately.

Hello,

Could you please archive the logs from ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log folder and send them to <email address hidden> on the desktop computer. We are extremely interested in finding the reason of such misbehavior.

Are the files still present online?
If you want us to restore the files could you please provide the name of the UDF that had those files, please provide this info in the e-mail sent to <email address hidden> along with the log files.

Panic over - my apologies! The folders went astray on the desktop were not shared folders, but a set of 3 that were not included in the UbuntuOne set. I was so startled to see them gone: when I looked at the shared files to see what was going on, I found that three of them that I had updated on the laptop had not been coped to the laptop, and panicked! . In fact the changed files did take a long while to get transferred - over 24 hours - but they have now come out right. Where the three went is a mystery, but I am not bothered by that - they are backed up.
How would I get at the ~/.cache files? These are dark secrets to me.
  Thanks for the response.
