Ubuntu One first sync after adding a folder

Asked by Utku Erdoğdu

Hello,

I'm trying to use Ubuntu One first time, for sharing some of my files. I'm trying to add a folder, which is not under Ubuntu One folder (~/Documents/Docs) .

When I add this folder to Ubuntu One, I can see the folder from web interface and any other device I've connected to Ubuntu One. However, files in this folder are missing. The folder is empty at web interface and at other devices. The icons of files are not modified in any way to show that they are under Ubuntu One synchronization. There is also no error or strange message in .cache/ubuntuone/log/syncdaemon.log.

Everything works smoothly if I empty the folder, add it to Ubuntu One, then copy all the files inside. Even moving files does not work. I guess synchronization daemon is checking the file modification times. However it is a little strange that it does not force a synchronization when I add the folder.

What I want to ask is whether this is a desired behavior or not. I'm new to Ubuntu One and according to my research there is nothing at logs, bug reports or questions that point to normality or abnormality of this behavior.

Thanks for the answers.

Hello, this is a known bug, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntuone-client/+bug/869920
We are in the process of releasing the updated version of the client (it is already available in oneiric-proposed archive).
