providing access to large files to a distant computer

I have video files too large to send by e-mail, that I would like to distribute to people in other cities. How can I set up a folder that they can have access to and still be sure that all other files on my computer are secure?
I am running Ubuntu 11.04.

Depending on the size of the files I would recommend setting up the ubuntu one on yours and the other peoples' computers.

Or you could set up an online folder with dropbox or a similar service
