Post installation query ubuntu 12.0.4 offline update

Hi,

I am beginner in ubuntu Linux. i has installed the ubuntu 12.0.4 at my home PC, after installing the OS am unable to play movies, sound in my PC. Asked for plugins & etc.

I want to know how to install sound & video plugins, i also search on the web & ubuntu help section & know that all the s/w required internet connection.

I have very slow internet connection & unable to install applications like vlc etc.

Can ubuntu has offline installing facility like script or else?

please help me to resolve this situation.

Because of license restrictions common codecs are not in the main software repositories.

Instead they are in the restricted ones. Normally yoou have on option on the Ubuntu installation to download from there on installation time. But when you do an installation without fast enough internetconnection you could not get this on this way(or with many time-> may be you run it over night?!).

There are ways to get the restricted packages to your system and others have found some solutions:

you are suggested 2 links, when i click on this http://hacktolive.org/wiki/Ubuntu-restricted-extras_offline_installer link it will redirected to Ubuntu-restricted-extras offline installer page where shows Target OS: Ubuntu 9.04.

i have download the package from torrent ,but it show Ubuntu-restricted-extras for Ubuntu 9.04 offline installer [mininova]
my question does it is working on ubuntu 12.04 also. Kindly clear my doubt.

With high propability it will not work and may be it render your system unusable.

As I suggested you should search yourself for a adapted solution for your system. I do not different than internet search.

Can you help with this problem?
