Only available with LiveDVD installs ?

Asked by Bruce R

Binary package hint: ubuntu-restricted-extras

ubuntu-10.04-desktop CDs have no access to ubuntu-restricted-extras, even after 'real install' and Update, whereas, Involving overnight download, ubuntu-10.04-dvd isos have 'real install' access, is this a deliberate limitation or a Bug ?
The ttf-mscorefonts-installer is then very slow to function, but unlike Karmic, in Lucid it works, thereby allowing all the other useful plugins like gstreamer, LAME, JAVA and Flash to install.

Because what I have reported may be a deliberate limitation, it seemed more appropriate to convert it into a question.

Hi Bruce......

Ubuntu-restricted-extras is part of the multiverse component. The multiverse component is not active by default. Once initiated ubuntu restricted-extras should be availble for download/install, Live or Installed.
