It seems that something with your internet connection is not working as expected.
I assume that instead of the expected 404 error code you get some kind of "This URL does not exist, did you mean xyz?" message from one of the devices in your internet connection.
What output do you get for
curl http://

Curl not installed so I used wget
root@puppet:~# curl http://
The program 'curl' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing:
apt-get install curl
root@puppet:~# wget http://
--2016-05-04 15:54:08-- http://
Connecting to 127.0.0.1:3128... connected.
Proxy request sent, awaiting response... 404 Not Found

What is the output of
wget -O - http://
Is this a server system, or do you have a graphical environment installed?
If you have a web browser installed, what do you get if you access the link .../Sources from above in the browser?

Your recent output does not help confirming my assumption, nor prove it wrong.
Are you using the same proxy server on your local workstation as the server is using?
If you access a nonexistent URL from your workstation, what do you get? A browser-provided message 'not found', or a response from the proxy?

I think it is the issue with proxy, We have tested with another proxy where it is working fine. But we can not use that proxy. What can be done on proxy side to get it resolved by using the same proxy. Please sugest

Sorry, I have no idea what there has to be done to reconfigure the proxy.
Just one thing: The proxy must not provide content like "such file does not exist", but just plainly forward the status 404 to the client. Maybe you can find some configuration item that can be set on the proxy to enable and disable such behavior.
This will very much depend on make and model of the proxy.
