Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We understand the difficulties you are facing, but it is better to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. You can also find help posting your problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu's community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at http://askubuntu.com. Panos
Need some information on procedure you used to install Ubuntu 14.04.4. Is this a dual boot, so you can use both Windows and Ubuntu, or just Ubuntu? How did you get Ubuntu 14.04? Did you partition hard drive or let Ubuntu do it? Some sites below have information about installing Ubuntu 14.04.

http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/install-ubuntu-desktop

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kL4DG31tgRM

http://howtoubuntu.org/how-to-install-ubuntu-14-04-trusty-tahr

Did you install Ubuntu similar to above sites, or different way? If a different way, please explain the way you did it. I have assumed that you are new to Ubuntu, and have given information for a person with little knowledge of Ubuntu. If I am wrong, ignore things you already know.
I have always used more than the minimum system to run Ubuntu. Mine have hard drives between 70GB and 120GB.
I use at least 2GB of ram. The CPU seems happier with 2.0GHz or more.
If you have a 64bit computer use 64bit Ubuntu. Same with 32bit. Use a Torrent to download. Any time you have a question, first Google it, then ask here. ( Such as what is a Torrent ). On installation use the Try Ubuntu to check how your computer works with Ubuntu. I have requested this information because I believe something in the installation is causing your problems. Thanks
