ubuntu-desktop removed but still wants to install missing package software-store

Asked by Tim Kornhammar

Ubuntu karmic (9.10)
ubuntu-desktop 1.171

---

I cannot understand why apt insists on installing software-store even after I removed ubuntu-desktop. (I translated some words to ease the understanding.)

$ sudo aptitude install -f

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs .

As ubuntu-desktop is broken, try reinstalling the package through synaptic, and if your cache of debs are still there, it should quickly install the missing packages from before. AFAIK you must reinstall then uninstall broken packages. So after you've reinstalled ubuntu-desktop, remove it and then remove other packages.
