Brokencount update probleem

Alvast weer enorm bedankt.

I do not see any relationship between the problems with installing kernel packages and your new problem of thunderbird not working.
Eventually the 'disk space full' status has caused some problem for thunderbird.
I want to focus on getting the package management system back into a consistent state first.
Try
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install -f
and copy/paste the output again.

On the other patitions I have space left. So if I could make the 14G bigger the problem could be solved? But I don' t know how to do that.
Here are the results. If I copy all the information the terminal session stops directly. So I tried it with just some lines.

The situation is a bit tricky. The package management system needs some free space to be able to remove packages. So we have to make some space free.
what is the output of the commands

The first action can only be done when I close all programs. Firefox en thunderbird must be shut down other wise the terminal session stops. I don't get all the lines I think because the locat .'deb' command is missing.

Until this moment I didn't try to do actions with firefox and thunderbird closed. Maybe I can try again some older actions you asked me to do but failed in the same way? Which one you want me to do again with firefox and thunderbird closed?

I tried to do one of the actions above #13 to make space. Strange enough I get this result.
paul@paul-
dpkg: waarschuwing: ignoring request to remove linux-headers-
I tried it for all the pakages.
In #14 I gave the results which said:
[sudo] password for paul:
dpkg: onherstelbare fatale fout, afbreken:
kan `/var/lib/
I thought it maybe interessting for you.

Ok, I think I have identified files that can be deleted and re-created later.
Try
sudo rm -v /var/cache/
sudo dpkg --purge linux-headers-
and report the output

Dear Manfred the problem has gone worse. I can't log in the system. Once I enterd the password the systems tries to start up and comes back to the screen with the login. If I enter a wrong password it says so. So it is not a problem of a wrong password but the system is corrupt.
So what's next? Deinstall linux and start all over again? Or..
Paul

There are still several options:
When logging in to the graphical environment does not work, try using command line mode:
From the login screen where you should select the username and enter the password, press ctrl-alt-F1
this should open a virtual console requesting username and password.
Try logging in (note, you will not get any feedback when entering the password).
If that works, enter the command
sudo rm -v /var/cache/
then press ctrl-alt-f7 and you should be back on the login screen of the graphical environment. Try logging in again. Does it now work? You can switch between these two modes with ctrl-alt-F1 and ctrl-alt-F7
If you can log in now, execute the commands like
sudo dpkg --purge linux-headers-

Dear Mafred,
I was a weekend away. Know back. I did what you have written. But it didn't work.
First it says: kan /var/lib/
Then Some things were removed. Like
'/ var/cache/
Then via ctrl-alt-F7 to inlog. But he keeps coming back to ask my password although its the correct one.
So what now?

You can try a lot of things, but a new installation is quicker, faster and more shure.
