how do I setup the window look or theme?

Asked by tadiv

So earlier this week my /home drive crashed, taking all my data with it. I was able to get logged into a desktop, but it was not quite right. So, I did a clean installation of 13.10. Now I have the windows control buttons in the upper left as opposed to the upper right... I realize that it seems like a nit, ut every other machine I use has the standard 3 windows control buttons in the upper right...

So, my questipon is - How do I change the look / feel of the windoes and dialog boxes?

Thanks,
Tom

What session are you using? Unity? Gnome Shell? KDE? XFCE?

Think about it. You could be running 13.10 but we need what you are using. The commands and settings are different

If you are unsure then you can upload a screenshot of the desktop to imageshack etc or just find a similar image online and link that instead

I tried tweak and I tried dconf - neither seemed to do anyting for me - the "x" "-" and "ߛ" buttons are still on the left of the window...

There are lots of guides. Try dconf-editor there will be a setting in there for the location of the buttons. You do realize that having the buttons on the left means less movement for your mouse pointer.

Ifound it in dceonf-editor in the following path:
org>gnome>desktop>wm>preferences
and I changed "button-layout" from "close,minimize,maximize:"
to ":maximize,minimize,close"

Thank you!
Tom
