Ubuntu constantly freezes

Asked by Devan Proust

Hi! I have recently installed Ubuntu 12.10 on my laptop, and it is always constantly freezing. Everything will run smoothly, until it just suddenly stops; there is no hard drive activity at all and I have to reboot my computer for it to work. I have tried every solution I can find online, and nothing has worked. I also tried reverting back to 12.04, to no avail. Could anyone help?

I suggest you test your RAM using Memtest86+ from Grub

Every time I try to run it, it crashes at test #4.

Sounds like bad RAM. If possible, remove one stick of RAM with the system off and then retest

Can you help with this problem?
