Entering password with a touchscreen

Asked by Werner Kroneman

Hello, I've installed Ubuntu on a touch-only tablet pc (Ekoore Python S) with the Gnome 3 desktop.

It's a specially adapted version for tablets (Ekoore Ubuntu, quite buggy), but I have this problem: whenever I'm trying something administrative, it gives me the password dialog so I can enter my password to get admin priviledges. With a keyboard, that's no problem, but there's the problem: touch-only device.

The password dialog disables all other windows, including the onscreen onscreen keyboard. This makes it thus impossible to type the password. How do I fix this, or is there some workaround so I can input the password somewhere else?

Hi ,

open a terminal and try this command

gconftool-2 --set --type=bootlean /apps/gksu/disable-grab true

this will disable the grab of keyboard and mouse from gksu's prompt window , with that way will allow you to use the virtual (touch) keyboard.

I hope.

Thanks

Thanks, but I looked at the config: it is already set.

However, it isn't a gksu dialog that shows up., I tried the gksu command from the terminal, and that is a completely different dialog (it does work with the virtual keyboard, though).

It appears to be some gnome 3 builtin dialog. It's a black dialog with a single input field and two buttons: "anulla" and "autentica" (can't change the language for some reason, seems they disabled it or something).

I'll see if I can find a screenshot of it, but is seems it's not gksu.
