Because the Unity bar is on the left, if you have them on the left you 'll find you rarely use the righthand side of the screen. You can use Ubuntu tweak to switch it over to the righthand side but the left is actually a smart choice if you use Unity shell.

It doesn't need to mimic Windows at all.

Why would you want Ubuntu to mimic Windows? Do you think We should press a button marked "start" when we want to stop the computer as well?

Ubuntu is very different from windows and many of us are very happy about that.

The really nice thing abut Linux hwever is all the source code is freely available so if it bothers you that much your free to make your own distribution.

Personally as I use a number of different computer systems I like them to look different so I dont frget which I am using at any particular time

Well for one thing i thought this i would get based answers like
"It doesn't need to mimic Windows at all."
I am not asking it to mimic everything just the minimize,,restore down, close . If you are like me who lives on windows but wanted to try ubuntu then you will find an automatic go to the right and then click either minimize or restore down or close but oh its not their then i get frustrated mac os use the same format as windows minimize,,restore down, close why does ubuntu have to different then its a pain in the back side if you as me why they cant just copy minimize,,restore down, close but as as always i am really frusted as for KDE i have never herd of it what is this KDE??????????????

KDE is ok but ubuntu is a bit better that's why i am not not happy at least KDE has the default minimize,,restore down, close like windows and moc os but ubuntu still does not:(

It won't be if you use Gnome using Unity. The default will be on the left. If you install Ubuntu-tweak you can change it.

KDE is not an alternative to Ubuntu, Ubuntu uses Gnome as the default desktop. KDE is just an alternative to Gnome. Kubuntu uses KDE by default and is fully supported by the Ubuntu community.

Well how to i move it to the right?????? Also
"Because the Unity bar is on the left, if you have them on the left you 'll find you rarely use the right hand side of the screen. You can use Ubuntu tweak to switch it over to the right hand side but the left is actually a smart choice if you use Unity shell."
Yes that is only true for non windows and mac os users.

Windows and mac os both use the right side where ubuntu used left plus the fact it muddle up the minimize,,restore down, close rather than keep it generic like mac os and windows ie in this order minimize,,restore down, close.

This is going to my parents computer who has came from a windows. The resign why i request they make this change is because to all non l linux people like me and mac os and windows who want to try Ubuntu its very difficult and frustrated when you start moving the generic order of minimize, restore down, close as in the case of Ubuntu.

that's the only down side i can see is the generic like mac os and windows ie in this order minimize,,restore down, close and I hope some admin would take notice and me be update Ubuntu and i hope you all understand what i mean if you are like me how lives on windows but want to try Ubuntu its very difficult and frustrated and hard to make the move why well when you start moving the generic order of minimize, restore down, close and the fact its on the left some one did say you could move it but i have not found this yet.

I hope you all understand what i mean. Please admin pass this on to the developer and me be the owner Ubuntu.
Thank You

Then install Kubuntu, Lubuntu or Xubuntu and it will be as you expect. You don't have to use Gnome+Unity and they are equally supported by the community.

There is no 'best'. If there was the others would die out due to nobody using it. 'best' is an opinion and is never concrete.

I suggest you make a virtual system and try the 3 variants there, see how you like it. You may find that Kubuntu suits them as it has a K menu which is a lot like the start menu but I suggest you explore all 3.

Kubuntu, Lubuntu and Xubuntu are the SAME OS, they ust have a different desktop and Widow manager, the OS under the hood is 100% identical.
