12.10 Alpha 3 crashes after update

Asked by Robert Lee

Originally I had an updated 12.10 where I started from pre-Alpha to Alpha 1 and so on to Alpha 3. A week ago I updated my 12.10 Alpha 3 and I could not log-in. So I re-installed 12.10 Alpha 3 successfully from the ISO. I have tried three times to get the latest updates for Alpha 3 and each time the updated version crashes after log-on. The kernel on the updated version was 3.5.0-10 or 3.5.0-11

Well, it's an alpha version, it is not made for normal users but for developers.
If you are able to provide addational debugging information you should file a bug report.

I suggest you report a bug. Quantal is not ready and not stable. If you are happy to put up with bugs, feature holes and at times a none booting system, but want to report bugs to get the release ready for October then by all means keep Quantal. If you need your OS to work then I suggest you install Precise.

Have you tried booting to older kernels to see if the issue persists?
Did you report the bug?

Yes, it is an alpha version which I run on a computer reserved for this sort of OS. I have 12.04 on a Laptop and Desktop.
I bought this situation up as I updated once using "dist-upgrade" and the result was a crashed system. But not to be stopped, I tried to update using Synaptic Package Manager which resulted in the same resulted, a crashed system. Okay, that didn't work either, so I decided to update this alpha using Software Updater even though this was the least reliable during the 12.10 alpha versions. It resulted in a crashed system so I re-installed alpha 3 and the first beta is only a month away.
