laptop mousepad stopped working after 12.04 upgrade

Asked by wheljam

Mousepad stopped working, had to plug in my USB mouse to get around the GUI after the upgrade.

This is mostly an inconvenience but still something I'd like to correct.

Laptop is a Gateway NV53A.

Searched the online questions but can't find anything relevant that sticks out.

Already did a "fix broken packages" correction. Nothing else appears in that filter now.

Obviously tried seeing if it was disabled or something in the system settings. Unplugged the mouse a few times to see if it would default to the mousepad.

Once Ubuntu One finishes updating the easiest thing to do is just restart the computer...

Have you tried pressing Fn+F9 ? It appears your keyboard has a shortcut to enable and disable the touchpad.

Gah!!!

Fn+F6 ............. yes, there is a little symbol on that key.
I must have hit that when trying to use the keyboard to maneuver when the broken packages were still in effect.

RTFM, peoples. Thank you andrew-woodhead666. Good night all.
