I want my clean desktop BACK

I used to have my desktop clean of icons. All icons like, documents, downloads, ...etc were in my home folder. All of a sudden, I found my icons thrown in my desktop, and found my Home folder is my Desktop.. What is wrong with my computer in this case? How to retain my computer as it was?

i used mv command erronously, and i want to undo all steps i 've made..how?
