update 11.10 32bit to 64 bit

can i update 11.10 32 bit to 11.10 64 bit can that be done?

Yes, you need to delete the current install then reinstall with the 64bit version.

What actionparnship ment is that it is not possible to do that.

Make sure that you save your important data to an external drive or ubuntu one.

You can do this directly or with dejadub. -> Have a look, it might be helpfull.

Make yure that your CPU is a 64bit one(all modern for PC are, but check instead). Than install a 64bit version with erasing the 32bit one.

Sorry, but I do not thing that there is a other way.

A longer time ago I tried architecture switch in parts(desktop software, not the kernel) on openSUSE, but it was a mess.

Can you help with this problem?
