Ubuntu 11.10, is working very slow . seeking tips for speed up my system.

Use system monitor and see if something is running at close to 100%. There are one or two badly behaving programs that can slow the system down, but they only run once for a little while. The best thing to do is just let them finish, or change the niceness of the program so that it doesn't hog the system so much.

Some things do run poorly in 11.10 like software center. The only thing I can suggest here is to wait for 12.04 and upgrade as it appears they have sped things up quite a bit, by about a factor of 3.
