I have installed this as the procedure was mentioned in the site. but the problem is the text size does not change even select the option ask at terminal for small and medium. And there is even no icon of apple is not present system gets stuck all the time

I suggest you boot to ubuntu classic to do this, be sure to run:

compiz --replace

and disable Unity plugin in ccsm
