can not paste with middle click

I use Ubuntu 10. I can use left click copy and then paste with middle click in the system package like kwrite kate etc.. However I can not use left click copy and then paste with middle click in external software like komodo, openoffice.... What is strange is I still can paste with middle click what I copy with mouse from a different windows to the windows of komodo ....

You may try to select text than middle click to paste the selected content. You don't need to copy, just select and press middle button to paste it. But this method works in same application, for example Gedit, select text in Gedit, than middle click to paste in Gedit.

Sorry. Maybe I didn't clarify my problem. I mean I select text and then click the middle button of mouse in the same windows/frame. However it doesn't work in komodo, openoffice, mathematica etc.. It works only if I use kwrite etc or between different windows.

it works in openoffice for me. some programs will intercept mouse clicks and interpret them different. you should look under settings or customize under these programs and see what it's doing.
