If you prefer to install some other themes(eye candy[glassy...etc] I recommend installing, resolution switcher, CompizConfig settings manager, compiz fusion icons, compiz simple settings, and emerald theme manager.

***Prior to completing any of these tasks I recommend selecting an optimal screen resolution. If you installed a "resolution switcher" some of them are in the system preferences as "monitors."
system/preferences/monitors. If you do not select an optimal screen resolution the theme manager is not likely to function optimally.***

How to set up emerald after all of this is installed:

Right click on the desktop and select "Change Desktop Background."

Click on the "Visual Effects" tab.

Select "Custom: Use custom set of effects."

Select "Preferences."

At the top of the "Preferences" window there is a "Profile" drop down box...select the profile drop down box and select "Ultimate."

To the right of the "Profile" settings selection box there is a green checkmark button. Click it and wait. The screen is likely to freeze for a moment. Its because you are changing the visuals. I recommend you let it be and wait for the screen to unlock.

After the screen unlocks itself and the settings are changed other settings are available in the "Animations" and "Effects" tabs. I recommend you experiment with them and find the settings you prefer.

Now... that you've changed the visual settings to "Ultimate" and found the animations and effects you prefer... we move on to "Compiz fusion icons" and "Emerald theme manager."

I recommend you open "Compiz fusion icons"(Applications/System Tools/Compiz Fusion Icon) and right click on the compiz fusion icon which appears in the top panel(box with an arrow).

When you right click on the compiz fusion icon settings manager you shall see a list of options. Click on "Select Window Decorator" and select "Emerald."

Open "Emerald theme manager"(system/preferences/Emerald or right click on the Compiz fusion Icon settings manager and select "Emerald theme manager") and in emerald theme manager select the "Edit themes" tab.

Click "Select Engine" and select the engine you prefer to utilize. After you select the frame engine you prefer I recommend you click on the other tabs(Buttons-Frame/Shadows-Title bar-Theme) and experiment with the other settings.

After you experiment with the settings and create a theme you prefer I recommend saving the theme and then exporting the theme to a location on a storage drive or partition.

How?

At the bottom of the screen in the "Edit Themes" tab there is a field to type a theme name into and to the right of that field are the buttons "Save" and "Export."

When you click on "Export" a window opens for you to select a location to export the theme file to. I recommend backing up the theme on a separate partition, drive, or storage device.

If you did all of this...you learned to create a theme and no longer need to download them. The other option is to type "Emerald themes" into a search engine and download a theme package however I prefer to create themes.

Does this help?

You'll still need to download the control sets to change the backgrounds of the browsers and such. Those are currently found by utilizing a search engine. I currently utilize Emerald theme manager for the effects, window borders...etc and download the control sets. Some "Emerald themes" currently come with the control sets in a package however I prefer to download them separate and tweak the visuals.

Can you help with this problem?
