i'm STILL having starting issues with my travel mate 2300 HELP!

I think linux ubuntu 10.04LTS absolutely hates my laptop.. it's an acer travel mate 2300..

1.5Ghz Oc`ed@ 1.8Ghz
256mb pc2100 memory..
40 gig harddrive..

also has xp sp2 pro...

.. the task panel.. bar at top or bottom never loads after I type my password to login.. it did once after I unplugged my ethernet then replugged it.. but now it never loads... I was.. updating.. then it froze and I turned it off.. HELP please HELP!

do I need to uninstall ubuntu and reinstall? if so.. how without formating my drive so I keep my xp sp2..?

Try renaming the ~/.config and ~/.g* folders in root recovery mode. You will need to cd to your users home folder as ~ will be /root in root recovery mode

Then reboot and it may help
