No way to gain entry into ubuntu from ubuntu Desktop

I clicked on(restart to update changes button),when ubuntu restarted the panels were completely blank of all icons(applications,places,system)I have no way to get into ubuntu.I am using 10.10

If you press CTRL+ALT+F1, then CTRL+ALT+F7
Does it help?

If you press ALT+F2 does it do anything?

I solved the problem.which was'nt a problem but an oversight.I right clicked on the panel and added the necessary icons
