this issue apper when Network Manager does not see active connection ...
try comman - "nm-tool"
i have same problem ... i have 2 nic eth0 eth1 configured staticaly .. and network manager does not detect it ;( and do not try connect... ;(
...
work around for me : set up eth1 at dhcp ... and nm-tool show this interface ... and pptp client success start.
