How to see the current position in geoclue test examples (geo-test-gui) by Ubuntu GeoIP Provider?

Asked by Eduard Gotwig

Now I run Ubuntu 13.04.

When I install some other geoIP providers, 1-2 do work and I see the infos in geoclue-test-gui.

Why do I not see the data for Ubuntu GeoIP?

Like, why I don't see my IP, my position, or other stuff?

And how exact is the position of this? Geoclue-hostname delivers me a very generic name. E.g for me it says my location is in Munich, when in fact I do live in the area of Cologne.

W3C GeoIP is very exact here. Compare this: http://whatismyipaddress.com/location-feedback

I want to have info like from the first column, and not the last.

I want to realize a weather application (launchpad.net/gazette), and this needs a more exact position.

Thanks,

Eduard Gotwig
