printer access denied from windows

i have hp laserjet printer installed on ubuntu 9.04. from windows after having installed network printer, it tells me "Access denied, unable to connect". i have looked at other forums but have been unsuccessful in fixing.
When printer first installed , testpage ok, and usually another test page will be ok, but documents from windows fail to print.

run:

sudo smbpasswd -a $USER

and type your password 3 times, this will then set the samba password for authentication which you can now use to connect to the printer

if you access the system from Windows by clicking start -> run

then type

\\<Ubuntu system'sname>

e.g.

\\printerserver

then you will see the printer if it is shared and you can right click it and select connect. You will need the windows driver for the same prnter to establish the link.
