We need diagnostic information about your system to be able to help.

What is the output of the following commands on your Ubuntu system:

timedatectl status
systemctl status vboxadd-service

(Remark: you have to press the "q" button after the second command).

“Again Ubuntu will not keep correct Time and date:” (as Windows 10 Guest OS): Will Not manually reset using -System Settings -Time and Date.

I found the answer here:
Windows 10 will not connect to update service
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-10-will-not-connect-to-update-service/ccd66095-5900-4c07-973b-333751f59e35

In the reply by Ian Ser, Microsoft Agent. Method 3.

Method 3: Restart the Windows Update Service.
This may have been caused by the Windows Update services being Stopped. Follow these steps to Enable the service.
1. Press Windows key on your keyboard, type and click Services, and then look for Windows Update.
(Alternately use the Cortana Search Box and Type in ‘Services’: Then, Click on Services App)
2. Scroll down the Services, Right-click Windows Update, and choose Properties.
3. Look at the Service Status: and make sure if it's Running. If not, Click ‘Start’. Also, make sure that the Startup type is set to Automatic.

* The Solution is the line ‘Windows Time’ just above the ‘Windows Update’ Services Entry.

Apparently the ‘Windows Time’ service somehow gets stopped. And needs to be restarted as per Method 3. Above.
