Could we get updates which do not result in applications failing to initialize?

Asked by Mokie

Could we get Ubuntu updates which do not result in applications such as the default Firefox browser or Libre Office Write failing to initialize and crashing when we subsequently attempt to start them?

Hello,

I cannot understand the question, sorry. If something went wrong with an update you could ask for assistance on this specific failure.

For opinions and other discussions, you could visit
http://ubuntuforums.org/

As an additional info, make sure you don't have the 'Proposed' repositories enabled, that they are used for testing packages before push them in the main repositories.
Read more about in following link:

Regards
NickTh

P.S. Don't forget to mark the question as [SOLVED], when done.

This sounds a lot like question #271725. Be a lot of help if Mokie would answer request for more information. Below sites will explain the terminal.

The second site is the first of four tutorials.

I usually run sudo apt-get update from console to check for updates.
this subsequently brings up Update Manager, if there are any updates
available. Then depending upon the updates it either usually functions
normally to install the updates. (but two updates ago something in
that update download caused the Update manager to fail to respond when
clicking the "Install Updates" GUI button to install that update.)
Usually after installing an update I also run sudo apt-get install -f
to attempt to catch any dependencies which the update might initially
have missed. However many times there are updates which result in
applications being caused to fail to initialize when attempting to
start them afterwards (even after several System Reboots.) This
question was asked at one such time. I have "experimental/Proposed
Repositories" disabled by default. Don't know if this issue will ever
be fully "solved" sometimes programmers, being human, might overlook
some detail while constructing the code for an update, resulting in
these sometimes recurring issues.
