My computer keeps freezing with Ubuntu 12.04/colour probs

Computer keeps freezing. Two groups were arbitrarily added to my groups, one was for a local town and another was in Chinese script. Also colours have changed and also a green shadow has appeared on black print at the extreme top of the page. I suspect a bug.

I suggest you run Memtest86+ from Grub. If this passes, boot to liveCD and run an fsck on the partitions so that they are unmounted.
