Kernel problem

Asked by Geoffrey Taylor

I've just installed Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. System rebooted and after selecting Ubuntu I got the following error
0.259684] Kernel Panic- not syncing: stack-protector:kernel stack corrupted in : c018b22f
0.259685]
0.259786] PID:1, comm: swapper not tainted 2.6.32-21-generic-pae #32- Ubuntu.

Powered down the PC and rebooted but got same error.

Your advise comments would be greatly appreciated.

I suppose another easy thing to try is verify your memory (hardware) is okay by running memtest86... Just throwing that out there..

Hi,
I think I now know what the problem is. I ran an i386 version. Silly me.

Thanks everybody for your help.

Thank you for your help.
I mistakenly used an i386 system instead of an AMD64 so sorry for wasting your time.
