Ubiquity Custom Distro Name

Asked by hostingagent

Hi, I'm customizing my own UBUNTU based live distribution & would like to be able to modify the text displayed on the Ubiquity gui that appears after selecting the preferred install language.

Specifically where it displays "Preparing to install UBUNTU"

1. How can I modify that to "Preparing to install "custom distro name" ?

I was probing around & came across ( /usr/share/ubiquity/gtk/stepPrepare.ui ) but that doesn't seem to contain the text I'm trying to change.

###

If I change some settings within the "stepPrepare.ui" from True to False it has a direct impact on the installer box. However, I can't seem to track down the files responsible for changing the text that appears within the installer box also.

Example

Fluendo MP3 plugin includes MPEG Layer-3 audio decoding technology licensed from Fraunhofer IIS and Technicolor SA.

2. How can I edit this to display my own custom text ? I see the text within the "stepPrepare.ui" file but changing it & relaunching UBIQUITY has no impact. It still shows the same text.

Thank you
