My keyboard works because I can hit ctrl-alt-delete and get the log off option. I can also use the direction keys to select the lock option or the log off option.
alt-tab also works.
I can also establish an ethernet connection when I plug in the cable
there is an icon next to the data exchange icon that looks like a red circle with a white horizontal bar across the middle

If you have a web connection then press CTRL + ALT + T and run :
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo reboot
It may help.
