Doesn't work

Asked by victoria

I am trying to download Ubuntu desktop 13.04 on two of my computers (Windows XP) from your website. It downloads, and gives me no error messages, but doesn't start.
Please, help.

Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?
If you burned a CD did you burn as slowly as possible and not with the default Windows CD burning application?

I didn't do any of this because I wasn't asked or instructed. I just followed the instructions. No CD, I just downloaded it to my system. Toshiba satellite A-105-S4164.

There will be information on USB flashdrive installation.

Its just a check to make sure the ISO is complete and consistent. You shouldn't need to be told to do that.

Burn the ISO to a CD or use unetbootin to make a live USB. You can then resize or remove your NTFS and install Ubuntu.

You dont unzip the file. Your OS may give it that icon but you do not unzip it. So you dont need mega zipper or any archive software at all. Think instead of going by what icon your OS gives a file. You'll get further

The icon I got on one of my computers just shows the downloaded files, and doesn't autorun. On my other computer I get a message C:\Documents and settings... Application not found.

Install Imgburn and open the ISO with that application. Make a bootable CD (burn slowly). Set the BIOS to boot CD first and you will get the live desktop.
