Installation from live cd failed.

Asked by Michael Walden

I am running an Asus 1025c netbook with a Samsung external cd. I loaded "Ubuntu" from a live cd purchased from the Canonical shop.
I opted for a complete installation removing Windows 7 starter, all went well untill the final phase I had a message to reboot and then a further message to "remove the media and close the tray" and press enter to reboot. Nothing happened and I had to close down the computer via the on/off switch.
On booting up I have the boot screen and on starting up Ubutu it then goes into a script and hangs up I then get a message that the system is closing down and it does. I have tried booting from the live cd but get a message "press any key to boot cd" nothing happens and I have to shut down via the switch again. Any ideas?
I am a little computer literate and can normally work things out with the right directions.

Seems to be an Intel GPU. Try the boot option:

nomodeset
