PowerBook G4: best Ubuntu version for PowerPC?

Asked by Alex Jones

I purchased a PowerPC knowing that most applications these days don't support a PowerPC processor. With that said, I have looked high and low through the forums and online community feeds and cannot get a cement answer to my question: what is the latest version of Ubuntu that runs smoothly on a PowerPC system? I am an Information Systems major so I know my way around Windows better than any system so I was also curious on what is the best way to load the best version into a Mac interface (USB or DVD, help, tips, short stories)?

There is no single best solution for any situation, there are simply options.

Personally I would go for Xubuntu 12.04. It is LTS and supported til April 2017. PPC will not use Adobe Flash but other solutions like Lightspark and Gnash exist as well as Minitube which doesn't even need Flash.
