Saying, "FAT-fs (sdb1) error, invalid access to FAT" when trying to boot Ubuntu off of USB

Asked by lukas e

Whenever I try to boot Ubuntu 12.10 from a USB flash drive (formatted from PenDriveLinux) it says "FAT-fs (sdb1) error, invalid access to FAT" over and over again . I cannot get my system up and running, this has been going on for three days! Please help!

Two things I suggest

1) Try to attach the Usb-stick to another USB-Port.

2) Format the USB - Create a FAT32 filesystem from scratch and re-create again the Ubuntu 12.10 live media.

Download the Ubuntu 12.10 from this link
http://releases.ubuntu.com/quantal/

Use a browser like Firefox or Chrome.. and be SURE that the .iso image downloaded completely.

Thanks

Did you MD5 test the ISO you used?
Have you tried using unetbootin?

Can you help with this problem?
