compatible MSI mainbooards

Hi I am looking for a compatible MSI mainboard for Ubuntu.
Any Intel 386 MSI mainboard will do? Or not?

And are Linux and Ubuntu same?
If I have a software used in Linux, will it also be able to run under Ubuntu too?
